In a truly intergenerational experience, our kindergarten children participate in a monthly garden project located right in our neighborhood at Stephen’s Place. Stephen’s Place is a wonderful residential community for adults with special needs.
We were invited for a pilot project in 2016 and it was such an enriching experience for all involved, we’ve continued it year after year. It is incredibly rewarding seeing the children and residents work together.
In the spring, families gather on a Saturday to tidy up our playground. There is always plenty of bark-chip-spreading, pruning and weeding to go around. Students love to work alongside their parents and help beautify their school. They also look forward to some special snack treats.
